Easy Hair Texture Part 1

Step 1: Open a new image 256x256 with a 72 resolution and using a transparent background

Step 2: Select your colours, A dark colour for the hair and a lighter colour for the highlights. See below for the colours I am using.

Step 3: Click filters, Render, Clouds.

Step 4: Click filters, Render, Fibers.

Step 5: Enter the following settings into the fiber settings box.

Step 6: Click filters, Blur, Motion blur.

Image

Step 7: Enter the following motion blur settings.

Step 8: Click image, adjust, brightness/contrast.

Step 9: Use the following settings in the contrast window.

Step 10: Click image, adjust, Hue & Saturation

Step 11: Use the following saturation settings.

Step 12: Create a new layer.

Image

Step 13: Select your brush tool, choose a round brush with size 13

Step 14: On your new layer draw 2 white lines (hold down shift key to draw straight)

Step 15:
Click filters, blur, gaussian blur, adjust blur settings until the white lines are only just visible.

Additional Tips:
Use hue& saturation with a check in colorize to vary colours.
